Travelling to Cheltenham Festival
Cheltenham Racecourse is in Prestbury, just to the north of Cheltenham, about six miles from junction 10 of the M5 motorway. There are a number of ways of getting to the festival, including by road, train, coach and even helicopter. Routes into the site are signposted by the AA and visitors are advised to check local travel information for updates and best routes before setting off.

Driving to Cheltenham Festival
If you’re travelling by car, there are several major routes leading to the Festival site. Drivers heading from London and The South should take the M4 and the A419. If you’re approaching from Manchester and The North, the best route is to travel down the M6 and then the M5 to junction 10, at which point you will be able to follow signs for Cheltenham Festival.

Cheltenham Festival Parking
During the Festival there is a fee to use the car parks at Cheltenham Racecourse. There are plenty of spaces, although visitors are advised to arrive early as they soon fill up. Tickets costing £8 can be bought in advance, otherwise the fee is £10 on the day.

Cheltenham Festival Trains
The nearest train station to the racecourse is Cheltenham Spa. During the Festival, a return shuttle bus service operates from two hours before racing until the end of the schedule each day. Tickets for the Cheltenham Festival shuttle service can often be bought alongside train tickets – instructions on how to do this vary by operator but CrossCountry Trains offer a ‘Chelt Races Bus’ option in their Find A Train service.
